On 26 April 1986, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine suffered a catastrophic failure. Since then, an exclusion zone of 2,600 square kilometers has been established around the plant. Ukrainian workers maintained what was left of the power plant. And there things stood ... until 2022.
In February 2022, the Russian army invaded Ukraine and captured the site. Reports indicate the Ukrainian workers have been taken as hostages. As of this writing, 20 March 2022, the status of the site is unclear. (Wall Street Journal, March 15, 2022 -

Chernobyl 2022 features two dark ambient drones created on an Erica Synths Pico System III modular system. The drones represent the conventional electric power used by the workers maintaining the site. The drones were recorded with a variant of the "drone master" patch card that comes with the Pico System III. A 1010music Bluebox added "Dark Hall" reverb to the drones during the mixing of the track..
The Russian army and the chaos their attack caused are represented by a harsh noise track made on an Isn'tses Chernobylzer. There have been reports of electrical power failures at the site; accordingly, the drones disappear at one point during the attack..
A word of warning ... the drones are dark and the Chernobylizer is harsh. Don't play this too loud. This track is disturbing by design - the invasion of Ukraine is brutal, much more so than this music.
